Are
you a typical Vermont Chiropractic Orthopedics patient?
- Before you pick up the phone to make your first appointment,
do you know that our practice is the place for you? Have you
talked with your medical doctors, massage therapists, or nutritionists
and learned all about us?.
- Do
you demand the highest quality of care without restriction?
- Do you
want referrals to the best specialists on the East coast,
if necessary?
- Are
you willing to take responsibility for your own health care
and participate fully in the course of treatment?
- Will
you wear recommended orthotics, if necessary, and use good
neck support pillows to sleep on at night? Do you care about
the quality of the mattress you sleep on? Do you want good
ergonomics at your work site and at your desk at home? Above
all, do you want good health and freedom from pain? Do you
want to stay youthful and active as long as possible?
If you want
a doctor who will work with you to achieve these goals, call
us at 802-257-5177.
What's
your age?
Age 1-20:
You might see us for problems with your back or neck, problems
with your feet, ankles, knees, etc. It is important early on
in life to discover any congenital abnormalities, which are
fairly easily found with x-rays. You might have sports injuries
like falls from bikes or skis.
Age 20's
and 30s: You're a young, working adult. Various aspects of your job will affect you, whether you are doing manual labor or office work. Often, we can help you with postural biomechanics and changes at home or work. If you work on cement floors all day, orthotics in your shoes may be of tremendous help. If you sit at a computer all day long, a cervical (neck support) pillow at night may make all the difference in the world.
In your
40s: Have a great decade; raise your kids. Call us if you
need us.
In your
50s:
This is about the time when you begin to discover certain aches
and pains you've never had before. During this decade, x-rays
often reveal early degenerative disc disease, arthritis and
congenital abnormalities. We cannot cure the degenerative change
that has already happened. However, we can help you help yourself
decrease the rate of future degenerative change. You'll be happier
and healthier in later years.
Age 60s
and 70s: You are now beginning to feel the full effects
of any degenerative disc disease, arthritis, osteoporosis, etc.
We can't cure the damage that the diseases have caused but we
can often give a great deal of relief from ongoing aches and
pains. We can also teach you how to help yourself at home and,
if you're still working, on the job.
Age 80s
and 90s: By now, most of you have learned to live with problems you've acquired over your life. But sometimes, all of a sudden, they get worse. We've helped a number of older adults. Patients often respond fairly quickly in this age group.
Over
100: Yes, we've actually had patients over a hundred years old.
We learn as much from them as they do from us. We are extremely
proud to have served patients who have been alive for more than
a century.
Remember,
if we can't help you, we'll refer you to the best specialists
we know.
